Professor Wei dropped by Stanford to visit our group again! As is tradition at this point, we indulged in his favorite meal: hotpot.

After a lot of string-pulling and rule-bending, we finally had a group retreat after not having had one for almost 3 years! A special appearance from the man of the hour, the host of the evening, Ken, made this a truly unforgettable experience.

Following the postponement of our 2023 Winter Lab Retreat, the group decided to eat their disappointments away at Fambrini’s cafe!

Our old postdoc, now Professor Wei, dropped by Stanford to visit our group. We, of course, had to invite him to his favorite meal while he was in the area: hotpot.

Qianying and Chris represented NanoHeat at the first in-person Techcon Conference since the Pandemic in Austin, TX! They had a great time dominating the student awards along with Prof. Pop and Prof. Chowdhury’s students: Michelle Chen, Connor Bailey, and Mohamadali Malakoutian.

NanoHeat went all out at Daeho in San Mateo! This was a long-overdue dinner for our visiting students Kiwan and Daeyoung, who had just come back from a Vegas trip with Heungdong… tfti ._.

NanoHeat came in hot with burgers, sausage, and BBQ beef short ribs when hosting the annual MERL BBQ after so many years without one! Special thanks to visiting students Daeyoung and Kiwan from Korea who greatly helped with the cooking, and Joseph for making the time to come down from Berkeley!!

We had a ball when Hansen made his famous Giordano’s pizza and invited us over! After dinner, we headed to the EVGR pub where Qianying treated us to some great Kirkland sparkling cider.

During the power outage in summer of ’22, the NanoHeat lab stuck together and continued pumping out great work in these trying times!

We went to Happy Lamb Hotpot to give Tiwei a proper send off before his faculty appointment at Purdue! We also had some Salt & Straw… what a memorable day, good luck Tiwei!

Some of the group had a pizza party, courtesy of Hansen. This is Giordano’s by the way, not just your run-of-the-mill pizza.

Another unforgettable hotpot dinner at SuperHot! We were blessed to have a former alumni from our group as our special guest: Prof. Woosung Park!!

We shared some great tacos and burritos, as well as a fancy cake from Tous Les Jours to celebrate Heungdong’s graduation. Good luck in all of your future endeavors Heungdong!

What a better way to ring in the holidays than with an authentic BBQ? We ordered Wagon Wheel BBQ all the way from Redwood City, 10/10 recommend.

We went to the Heungdong-approved Paik’s Noodles in San Jose to build up some morale in the group. A special guest is Scott Ellis from Intel!

We had an awesome dinner at Terun in downtown Palo Alto! This was one of the first group get-togethers after the pandemic.

This was one of the first get-togethers we had as a group since the pandemic, and we celebrated with a BBQ feast from Back-a-Yard grill!

Through dark times, Nanoheat members (new and old) got together for some online games!

In the throes of the pandemic, we still made an effort to come together and interact with one another! Sadly, this was not reimbursed by the lab.
