Yuan received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 2007 and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 2009. She is currently pursuing Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Her research interests include characterization of vertically-aligned carbon nanotube thin films. She is specifically interested in understanding the complex microstructure of the films and how the structure relates to the thermal and mechanical properties of the film. The characterization techniques she uses include nanosecond thermoreflectance, frequency-domain thermoreflectance, and nanoindentation.
